The Universal Wireless Wall Unit is the wall connection for the Wireless Bed interface and plugs into a standard 37-pin wall receptacle for feature bed interface to the nurse call system. When used in conjunction with the Bed Unit - Socket (HR) or the Bed Unit - Plug (Stryker), staff are able to connect a feature bed to the Responder IV or 4000, bed station wirelessly instead of using the standard 37-pin cable. This wireless link alleviates having to deal with damaged bed cables.

A simple touch of a button, on the Wall Unit and on the Bed Unit, links the two units together through a wireless (RF) interface. This connection remains active within 35 ft, eliminating the need for staff and housekeeping to remember to plug and unplug the bed cables when moving a bed within a room. When the two units are linked, the Linked LED will remain on and an audio tone will sound. With this wireless interface connected, Bed Exit annunciation through the nurse call system is maintained anytime the bed is armed for Bed Exit. The Bed Exit annunciation helps improve patient safety by instantly notifying the staff when the Bed Exit alarm is activated. Additionally, Nurse calls from the patient bed are annunciated through the wireless link to the nurse call system. Unlinking the Bed Unit and the Wall Unit is initiated by a simple press of the Unlink Button or by just wheeling the bed out of the room. A Bed Out call will be placed on the nurse call system indicating the link has been terminated.

The Universal Wireless Wall Unit will work with any Bed Unit which makes it easy to move and share beds in a facility. When a Bed Unit has a low battery, the Low Batt LED on the associated Wall Unit will flash once a minute and place, a “Bed Out” call on the nurse call system. The user may cancel the low battery indication for four hours but the battery must be replaced in order to permanently cancel the low battery indication. If the batteries go low in an unlinked Bed Unit, then the low-battery annunciation will start immediately the next time it is linked to a Wall Unit.
