The P40+SLEDGE is an infrared detection edge set that is used in conjunction with the Pana40+ Series of elevator control systems and has been specifically designed to be an ultra-thin edge detection system to accommodate new space constrained elevator doors.

The P40+SLEDGE consists of multiple infrared beams (created using a dense matrix of beams), which create a safety curtain that allows for realtime detection of objects in the doorways.

How It Works

The P40+SLEDGE edge set is the primary sensor that provides 2D detection to the elevator door controller to prevent contact between passengers and the elevator doors.

Obstacle Detection is achieved by scanning the door opening with several infrared beams. If an object passes through one of the beams, the P40+SLEDGE provides an immediate signal to the elevator controller to reverse the direction of the doors.

Precision Monitoring: The P40+SLEDGE utilizes its ability to detect obstacles in front of it prior to physically touching them, significantly reducing the chance of injury and wear on the equipment compared with mechanical safety edges.

Ambient Light Filtering: Sensors are designed to ignore reflections from stainless steel doors and excessive ambient light to avoid creating “ghost” or delayed doors.
