The Model DXS-54 Supervised Passive Infrared Motion Detector Transmitter is a battery powered passive infrared motion detector with a built-in transmitter designed for use with Linear’s DXS and DX format receivers. The transmitter is designed to send three signals; alarm, status and low battery. When motion is identified in the passive infrared sensor’s area of view, a digitally coded wireless signal will be sent by the sensor to its paired receiver. In most installations, the motion sensor is placed in an indoor corner about 6 to 8 feet above ground. The sensor monitors the infrared level in its view, and if the level hastily increases or decreases (like when an animal or human crosses its path) the transmitter will send an alarm signal to the receiver. During testing and setup, the detector’s test button must be pressed in order to put the device into walk test mode for four minutes so that the detection area can be determined ahead of time.

The DXS-54 transmitters are each equipped with a 9 volt alkaline battery, are supervised for low battery, and send status reports every hour. The digital DXS transmitters are pre-coded in the factory so that no field coding is required, and the DXS code format is equipped with more than a million possible codes.
