Corridor lamps are usually located on the wall or ceiling outside a patient’s room. They light when a call is placed from that room to the master station, and go out when that call is answered. The lamps are segmented to provide color and flash rates that indicate the priority of the call placed (normal or emergency). 

Zone lamps are usually located at corridor intersections and represent single or multiple remote station zones. When a call is made from a station, its designated zone lamp lights. The zone lamp may light steadily, flash, or appear in color to indicate the priority of the call placed. The light goes out when the call is answered.
