The R4KSS is a staff station typically located in a room or on a floor where staff members may be working. The station may also be used in patient areas such as day rooms or visitor’s lounges. Wherever call-in and two-way audio communication are desired, the station provides a call-in pushbutton in the audio-visual system. The staff or patients communicate through the station's built-in speaker/microphone. 

The staff station is connected to its associated corridor light or domeless room controller and is continually supervised for station presence. Through programming, a “Trouble” message can annunciate at the associated console(s) when the station is removed from the system.
